UNO!!! Dos Tres

windsorandnikkel

The relationship breaker. Whether it be family, friends, or partners, UNO is a great card game that will ensure you hate everyone you play with by the end of the game. More so, those that sit closest to you. For those who don’t know, UNO is a card game played with at least two players, but can be up to ten players (or more if you are ambitious and have more than one deck of cards). It was invented by Merle Robbins in 1971 in an effort to make the game of crazy eights more accessible and enjoyable for all family members. The goal of UNO is to run out of cards. You must follow suit, there are plus twos, plus fours, and wild cards. There are a ton of different variations of Uno out there.

The original rules of UNO are to match the top card on the deck to a colour, number, or action card. For example, if a green 2 is played you must play either a green card or any other colour number 2. If you do not have anything that matches, you must draw a card from the draw pile. If you draw a card you can play, play it. Otherwise, play moves to the next person. Finally, you must shout out “UNO” when you have only one card left. If you don’t and another player catches you, you must draw two cards. If another player does not catch you before the next player goes, you do not need to draw two cards.

There are many variations of the original rules to UNO. Some examples include stacking action cards, jumping in, and switching hands. An example of stacking action cards would be if someone has a plus 2 in blue, then the next player plays a plus 2 in red, and the third player does not have an action card. The third player would then pick up four cards. Jumping in occurs when a player plays a certain card and another player has the exact same card so they jump in and play that no matter where they are sitting. Finally, switching hands is a less common variation. An example of it is when someone plays a 0 and that causes everyone to pass their hand to the person on their left. Another version is if a player plays a 7, they can choose whatever player they would like to switch hands with. These are just a few examples. Not only are the many variations of the rules to UNO, there also many variations of the game itself. Some examples of the additional UNO variations are Harry Potter, Frozen, and Batman. A lot of these variations have slightly different rules of their own. For more information check out this website: https://www.unovariations.com/every-type-of-uno-card-game-and-spinoff.
