Did you know that trivial pursuit was a game invented by a Canadian?
As a Canadian owned business, we decided it’s time we finally write a blog dedicated to a Canadian game! So we thought we would start with one that many people know, trivial pursuit.
What is trivial pursuit?
The original board game requires a bunch of general knowledge of popular culture. You travel around the board, attempting to collect wedges as you answer questions related to each category. The goal is to get one wedge from each category. Once that is achieved, you must go to the center “hub” and answer a question from a category chosen by one of the other players. You must get it correct to win.
Who created the game?
Chris Haney and Scott Abbott, a couple of individuals from Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Who owns the rights to the game?
Initially it was Selchow and Righter. Parker Brothers (now part of Hasbro) then bought the rights to the game.
How many editions of trivial pursuit are there/what are they?
The first version of trivial pursuit is Genus. There are over 100 variations of trivial pursuit.
There are too many versions for us to list, but you can find a full list here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Trivial_Pursuit_editions
