Liza Part 2

“Why are you doing this to me?” Liza asked Sam.

Sam laughed. “I’m not doing anything to you Liza, you brought this upon yourself. You were the one who was caught on videotape covered in blood at the scene of a murder. It’s so unfortunate that you were taken away before the cops even arrived at the crime scene. It seemed that some of us wanted to take matters into our own hands as we weren’t sure whether you would actually be convicted of murder or not. When you pay the right price, it turns out you can have your own form of justice for anyone who has wronged you.”

“How have I wronged you?” asked Liza.

Sam gave this satisfied grin and answered “you murdered my son.”

Liza was completely shocked. As far as she could remember she had not done anything like that in her life. It couldn’t be true, but that video had her covered in blood and wailing. Was it because she had murdered his son and felt regret? No, she didn’t know why, but she knew that wasn’t it. She wasn’t a murderer.

“You’re lying,” Liza responded.

Sam started to look annoyed. “How dare you question me? All I ever was in our relationship was kind, respectful and faithful and you treat me like this? I think the fact that you broke up with me is proof that you are capable of doing unspeakable things.”

Liza tried hard to refrain from rolling her eyes. It wouldn’t help in this situation no matter how much of a jerk he was being.

“I didn’t murder anyone. Once I get out of here I will find a way to prove it,” Liza stated this, but wasn’t exactly sure how she was going to go about proving she didn’t murder anyone.

“Oh, honey, you won’t be leaving anywhere. There is a way out, but you’ll have to kill me to get out. There are cameras in here and people watching who will once again take justice into their own hands.”

Liza was becoming more upset and realizing she had no way out. She remembered everything that was in this room and tried to figure out what she could use to get out and how she could get around Sam. Finally, it came to her. He wasn’t a man of action, this could not have been his plan. He mentioned something about money earlier. What was it? It didn’t matter she could figure that out later. Sam was an emotional being. Liza needed to be calm. She looked directly at Sam and calmly asked, “What’s next?”.

Sam’s smug grin immediately wiped off his face. Liza withheld a smirk of her own. She got to him. Sam quickly realized his mistake and nonchalantly responded “well that’s up to you, sweetie.” You have two options here, number one, you admit that you murdered my son and go to trial. In addition you must apologize to me with witnesses. Or option number two, you refuse to admit that you murdered my son and rot in here until the end of time. The perfect form of justice if I do say so myself.”

Liza was still calm and responded “Option number 2 please.”

Sam was starting to get angry. He was smart though and wouldn’t ever yell at her. Yelling at her would be wrong and people would talk. “Really Liza? You would rather be in here for the rest of your life than admit you murdered my son and go to jail? At least in that option you have the availability to be free one day.”

Liza responded “really” in a nonchalant way and started to walk around the room.

Sam said “Liza, you and I were once so happy together. Why won’t you come with me? I’ll take you back to my place and then we can go to the police in the morning?”

Liza wasn’t having any of it. She knew Sam’s game. He would do anything in his power to make it seem like she did something wrong when she knows she didn’t. Liza stated firmly this time “Option number 2 please.”

Sam realized he couldn’t make Liza change her mind. He came over to her. It took all of Liza’s strength to not run away. She felt a tiny pinch and then she was unconscious.

Liza woke up about half an hour later, groggy once again. This time she remembered what happened. She didn’t know if Sam was telling the truth when he said there were cameras all over this area, but she couldn’t give him the satisfaction of knowing she was panicking. If what he says is true there’s no way she can get out. That can’t be true, can it? Sam got in and out of the room somehow. There must be a way out.

Liza steadied herself and studied the room from where she was. She was looking for any indication of a camera. She didn’t want whoever was watching to see what her next move was. However, there was only so much she could do to prevent that. She saw a glimpse of something out of the corner of her eye in the top right corner of the room. There was an oddly placed shelf high up. She went to investigate it. She didn’t see anything else that was suspicious there. However, just to be safe Liza wanted to cover it up. She found a loose piece of fabric and placed it over everything on the shelf.

Liza felt like there was probably more than one camera in here, but there was nothing obvious so she had to come up with a different plan. Unfortunately, she didn’t know how much time she had so she had to keep moving until she could come up with a different plan. She decided to look around the room again to find any indication of another room. She saw a desk straight across from where the wax people stood. There was one item on it, a globe. She went over to inspect it. When she touched the globe, it moved on it’s hinge to a 45 degree angle. She thought she heard a kerklunk. She looked to her right as that’s where she heard the sound come from and saw a tiny bookshelf that moved to the side. Behind that tiny bookshelf was a passage. While Liza was worried that she was in a never ending maze, she knew she had to keep going for a chance at survival.

Liza started going through the passage. It looked like there were multiple doors along the way. The passage also went on for what seemed like miles. She noticed that the doors were different colours. There were a few green, some red, and some blue. She thought she would walk a ways down to see if there was an end of the passage in sight, but after ten minutes she gave up hope. She decided she would find out if there was a reason some doors were blue, some were red, and some were green.

She went into a red door first. On the other side, she found the exact same room with blood and wax figures. The only difference was the bookshelf and desk were in a different place. She went into one of the green rooms and found that it was exactly like the room she had been in with the video of the bloodied room. Liza could not understand how someone, even a mega rich person, could build all of this. She went to a blue door. This was a room she had not seen before. It was almost like a studio apartment. There was a toilet, bathtub/shower, kitchen, and couch. Upon further inspection there was food and basic necessities in this room. While she was extremely glad to find this, this also caused great anxiety as it suggested she may be stuck wherever she was for a very long time.

Liza decided to take advantage of this place, grab some food, clean up, get new clothes, and then prepare herself to start down the passage again to find an end. She started and walked for what felt like an hour or two. When she started to get tired, she went into one of the rooms that had a blue door. She was shocked to see that the one she entered was extremely different from the one before. There was more than the previous blue room. There were a couple bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchen, and living room. It was as if someone was making a mansion underground. Since Liza knew that if she went back out into the hallway she would just find more and more doors still with no end in sight, she decided to look around this room.

She started off with the bedrooms. There was nothing out of the ordinary in them as far as she could tell. They looked like bedrooms she would see in an ad for a furniture store. She looked around the kitchen and living room next. Nothing weird there either. There was even a decent amount of food in the kitchen. Finally, she went into the bathroom. Once again, everything seemed normal and there were even decent toiletries available. With Liza’s curiosity satisfied, she went to one of the bedrooms to at least achieve a little bit of sleep before her adventure the next day.
